    Using a Camera/Telescope Tripod with a Rifle.

Hi all. Has anyone successfully mounted a rifle onto a camera/telescope tripod ? If so, how did you do it? Thanks

Yes, Spartan adapter on rifle ($80 gunsmith mount I did myself) then purchased spartan swiss arca mount $50 from guncity.

I then needed to get a swiss arca to qr adapter from photo warehouse because my camera tripod had a qr base plate $30

Use a saddle mount. They fit by arca and grip your rifle with no need for a rifle mounted arca.

The Aziak Backcountry light (or Frontcountry) ball head comes with an Arca Swiss mount. You can get any adaptor you want from there.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Half a piece of 60mm pipe 5mm hole in the middle, hot glue a nut to fit the thread on the tripod and cover with foam. Cost $5. Was my go to for shooting rabbits when we had the big property.

I think Nightvision NZ usually has some, but I got mine from Ali in less than 2 weeks and for about $80-90. It's aluminium and very well made, works perfect.

Screw/glue the nut into your stock.

Attach longer screw to your tripod mount. I added a bit of foam to snug it up too.

As above. This is a really good method as you can ditch the arca rail when it’s not required.

Do you already have a tripod you are going to use?
There are multiple mounting methods you could use, an ARCA set up is likely the most versatile but you'll need an appropriate tripod/ball head.

A shooting saddle with an Arca base is okay for most hunting rifles without modifying them. It will fit onto an existing tripod with Arca compatible head.

If you can mount a Pic rail under the front of your stock, consider an Arca and Picatinny tripod ballhead... you can get a cheaper adapter if you already have a ballhead. If you are going to use a centrefire, a lightweight photographic tripod may not be sturdy enough to last. Consider something with at least 35 - 40mm diameter leg tubes.
Edit: I don't own these ' I've been down this particular rabbit hole the past week and am considering buying the ballhead and a picatinny to swivel stud adapter.
