Thread: Videos of the UTAS straight pull

I taped a reference point on to the stock of my UTAS so long as I'm behind it I'm good. I run the stock at full extension which works well for me but may be a problem for others. I used to run an AR stock one click in, so the adjustable stock is only useful for storage now. I have the scope mounted on the last bit of rail, it's not ideal but it works.

Now the price on the Troy is only a few hundred more I would probably get one of them if I was starting over.

Yeah, I'm seriously looking at the Troy or Tactical Imports NZ-15 as the next toy.

I wish we could get "OEM" versions of guns like the NZ15 and even the utas. They cost a good amount and it is a waste if you pull off and replace half the components.

Ahhhh, the joys of lego for men and the AR (another receipt) platform.

The MRA Renegade looks interesting and is sold as an upper/lower kit in Canada, pity it hasn't been imported/approved.

Manufacturer has blocked overseas access to their website but info and prices available from other Canadian stores.

Does use a standard AR bolt and lower parts kit/furniture and barrel (no gas port) but thats it. Proprietary upper/lower and bolt carrier.

You don't want proprietary though, it becomes a ball ache to replace or swap parts, and the aesthetic is just off.

I was looking at it as a target gun more so to learn the ar platform even though its not really a real one. Do you find it tiresome or slower shooting while standing? When charging the handle I mean? I was planning on getting an ambidextrous charging handle for it.

I use my one as a target rifle and it doesn’t bother me if I have to lift up my head a bit to load the next round.
I’m not in a hurry when I do long range target shooting. I like the UTAS because it is surprisingly accurate with the right pills.
All the parts are interchangeable with AR parts and you can also use an ambidextrous charging handle.
……and you get it for a reasonable price which includes a well made hard case an two 10 round magazines.
As an alternative to UTAS and Troy, you should consider to have a look on this GBC Abyss Service rifle made in NZ sold by the gun supplies guys in Rotorua.

If anyone was after a Troy, GC has dropped another $200 off today (now $2499).

…..it’s still a lot of money in my opinion. Because it will come as the bare rifle. No flip up sights, no carry case and only a 5 round magazine.

You still hoping for a law change? I got the chance to talk to Nicole last month but she would not give away any secrets. She did say updated ACT firearms policy is due out well before the election, and also that National recognise her knowledge base on this subject.

Bringing back semis (in a B-Cat style endorsement only) is a rumour a few of us have heard from Todd McClay's electorate manager.
But frankly its a sure fire election loser for the rest of the voters.
