Vortex Crossfire HD 12-36X50 angled spotting scope reviews

    Hey team

I'm looking at the vortex crossfire HD 12 - 36 x 50 but I was hoping someone had some insight on it?

I'm trying my best to cut weight due to my pack always being bloody heavy hence why I'm after a smaller spotting scope.
I would love the Swarovski ATC 17-40 X 56 version but I can get about 10 Vortex to 1 Swarovski.

Any one used one of these?

    Cheers

Not me, but I'm in a similar situation, wanting a decent spotter that is low weight.
This caught my eye, the 7.5-22.5x65 (535g):

Never found that one when I was looking, defiantly lightweight but a bigger compromise on zoom again. From memory the vortex is 800grams and $420 from rubber monkey.co.nz.
Chances are I will pull trigger on the vortex shortly anyway and I can let you know how it goes.

@bigmac did you end up getting the crossfire? I had a look at them at sika show but hard to tell what they’re like in a warehouse. I’m very tempted to go ahead and also get one from rubber monkey.

After initially looking at Vortex, I ended up with one of these:
https://us.hawkeoptics.com/endurance...ing-scope.html have a look at a few comparisons and they stand up pretty well. Not super light at just under 900gms, but balances out with the price.

Looks like nearest equivalent at NZ distributor here:
    https://www.photowarehouse.co.nz/sho...angled-viewing comparable price to Vortex.

Yeah I ended up getting the crossfire. For the money and weight/space savings I'm happy as with it.
It's gona tick all the boxes I need it too on my budget and pritty good optics.
I'm certainly no expect on glass but that's my 2 cents on it
