Had a chance to look through one and compare it to a couple of other similar styled scopes, Burris MTAC 1-4x24 and a Meopta ZD 1-4x22.

So here's a couple of random observations.

First up the Vortex seemed to have a slight colour tint when looking through it compared to the other two scopes.

At 4x the Burris was noticably sharper than the Vortex and marginally sharper than the Meopta at distance (500m+).

All scopes have daylight visable illuminated reticles. I'd rank them brightest, Meopta,Vortex then Burris.

For 3 gun I prefer the Meopta reticle, then the Vortex and Burris.

Field of view up to 4x is pretty similar for all scopes.

As far as build quality, first impressions I'd rank them Meopta, Burris and not far behind, Vortex. Don't get me wrong the Vortex seems pretty solid but not quite as good as the other two.

The Vortex does come with flip up scope covers but not sure how long they would last.

The Vortex does however have the extra 2x magnification which is nice.

For $619 from Reloaders the Vortex seems like a good buy and is available locally unlike the Meopta. Not sure on local availability of the the Burris.

nice, you comparison makes the Strike Eagle look like a good choice. BTW I have a spare 30mm PEPR scope mount for sale if anyone is interested.

Tested the strike eagle at 4 and 500m on the JP with 18" barrel today.
Both the 4 and 500 hash marks lined up and hit 2-3 inches vertical of center on my steel plate.
Plenty good enough for anything I should need to shoot at those ranges.
Using 62g scirocco with a lightish load of BMII up its bum.

Fired 3 shots at 600 today, No prep, just setup and shot using the 600 hash mark on the strike eagle.
Don't think I will ever have to shoot this far in comps but it is good to know it is possible to hit a decent sized plate.

Fired 2 at plate and 1 at silouette but allowed for wind that had no effect on the silouette as I thought I could see my shots hitting left on the large plate.

The little 62gr bullet didn't struggle too much to get there.

Easier to catch when they can't walk properly, but then it having been with Toby and Brads I'd be worried what I'd catch from the sheep.
