Sneeze, you mention the fine reticle in the 4-16. Do you think an illum model would have negated the problem? Also what other rets are available now? I would research them myself but on restricted gay internet at work.

Thinking the Viper PST illum 4-16 would suit my needs

Might help a bit, I dont use/like iluminated. The bcd is very fine in the 4-16 .08 moa on the crosss hair and the post arnt much better. Some guys like it but I found it just dissapeared against a dark background in low light. Moving day tomorrow but Ill have a look at the options when I get back home.

Ive got the Viper PST illum 4-16 FFP, I like it but at 4x its pretty a small reticle but nice to use
( its being sent back to the states for a fixup for the wind-age turret.)

Cheers mate. It is a very fine reticle. Maybe FFP. I wouldnt want to rely on illum fulltime, only lowlight.

I dont envy your drive out tomorrow, at least as far as LW it will be a slog. I spose you are used to it

Is it on a hunting rifle Col or one of your target rifles? Is the illum sufficient even when on the lower magnifications in low light?

Yeah the illum is pretty good better then my swfa
The illumination is only good on the highest 3 settings the rest are designed for night vision apparently so hard to see with naked eye

Mines great. Glass isnt to flash but it has all the bells and whistles. It sits atop a lar8 and dials out to just under a thousand and back depending on temprature at the time. Love the reticle, hash lines and half hashes seem easier to read than dots and the hash spacings match the turret changes, if you find you lose the reticle because its to fine then turn the damn illumination on!
Im sold on them. Would buy another one and am currently looking although its a toss up between a vortex and an acog so price might have the final say.
