6500 are a very good scope and quite underated/overlooked in their price bracket, having not seen the new VX5 I couldnt give a direct comparison, I do know the 6500 are quite a heavy scope if weight is important to you, and also the MOA clicks on them are slightly out (easy to compensate with a ballistics program and doesent matter at 0-500 yds) as with all leupold products the lifetime no questions asked warranty is hard to go past

Bushnell is catching up on the warranty of their optics.i still like very much my xrs.
But I had a couple of leupold Vx5 in my hands Friday, and the turret system is probably one of the best and simplest on the market at the moment for that price range.
They are the way to go for your 0 to 600 m scope.
Now I wish leupold was coming with a 4-20 vx5!

Yea i see bushnell are now offering a lifetime warranty also, the vx5 turrets with zero stop are definitely better and lenes also now have a hydrophobic coating. The vx5 is slightly heavier and has a slightly smaller magnification, But has anyone put them side by side in low light conditions?

A few years ago I had a elite 6500 4.5-30x50, I now have a VX6 3-18x42 (non hd). I didn't have them both at the same time to make a comparison, but I would go with the VX5.
If my work annoys me, I cull them

Just mounted a VX5 on my 308NM, great scope, excellent as a hunting scope, particularly in the lower powers, brilliant for those last 10 minutes. And its perfectly capable for the long shots, so best of both worlds.

Yeh, a 4-20 would be the ducks nuts.

But they probably won't as it will compete too much with their vx6 line

There was a statement released at the shot show they will be doing a 5-25 at the end of the year. I will be waiting. Really good glass for the money maybe just behind the hd5 at low light but it beats it everywhere else. They just wanting for the tmoar reticle. I had to buy the impact 29 to get the hash marks I wanted but she's to busy for a dedicated hunting rifle. If I was to do it again it would be the wind plex. Anyone kniw if you can get the tmoar reticle fitted to the vx5?

I should add I've shot mine out to 1200 without any issue and I've done it alot no worries with consistant dialing the impact 29 reticle is very good for target shooting and making adjustment calls on the fly.

    I have a 2.5-16 6500 on my Hornet.
Had it on other calibers while waiting for scopes etc.

Scope has performed flawlessly however the click values are. 31

OK once you compensate for it but it is a bit of difference.

Yeah I think they stack up very well for a 10+ year old design. Id happily have another one.
