I'd go with the vx6 I think. Sounds like you won't often shoot past 600 yards.
I would also go with the 44mm and mount as low as possible with telley rings, those hunters edge stocks have a very low comb and are shit with 50mm scopes.

Yeah I really meant 30-40 grams over the whole build mate, it soon adds up.
Just get the 44 vx6 and as lr says it fits your needs better.
I have run my one by a swaro z6 at dusk I thought the swaro would win but I couldn't pick it.

Yeah mate that's cool everything else is sorted so weight wise the scope is last to be confirmed the vx6 sounds good but march just tempts me for some reason lol

March is also meant to be bringing out a x52 version of the 2.5-25 at some stage... That would really help it out I would imagine...

Damn this thread! Got me thinking bout scopes again... There is a yawning gap in the market for a 3-18/20 range scope that's of Swaro Z6 weight and glass quality, but NF/Premier/S&B reliability and repeatability. Most are 250-400g to heavy...

Hi, I am tossing up the Vx6 also 3x18x44 but was looking at putting the free turret on the windage and getting a zero stop turret on the elevation. I was comparing to the Sightron S11 Big Sky 4.5x14x42 MD - although the turrets are capped and click well they are larger due to the turrets. I like the idea of the capped turrets so cant bump them out when pushing through the scrub.
Good, interesting thread - thanks for the comments so far.

How far do you tighten rings around a March before crushing its weaker outer tube ? 15 inch pounds ? - 20? - 35?

How long is the warranty on a March - 5 years ??

    VX6 or VX3 - lifetime warranty.

Put the rest of your money saved into ammo and practise.

Not sure if they crush at 14"lbs Andrew. It is what March recommend per screw though. No decent set of rings should need anymore than that, per screw, to hold a scope if mounted properly anyway.

I have the March hunting model Camo. I have no dramas using it on the higher power settings. It tracks well and has IMO, better glass than the loopy. But all things weighed up, if the VX-6 was around when I decided on the March I would have had a longer think about things.

Im pretty sure you can put the cds on both on the vx6 .
Or at least both the factory plastic caps pop off the same and look identical so can't see why not.

I have the March 2.5-25x42mm 1/4 MOA with the hunting Di-plex Reticle model25v42, compact in length 315mm long weight is 610 grams I find the scope very good in low light conditions with no issue in locating the game with the 42mm front objective.
Probably some of the best glass I have used. Nothing fancy but very reliable. matched with Ken Farrell's 20MOA base and rings these are quite heavy but well worth considering. BRT in Australia are good to deal with and very helpful ask for stuart or annie.

I can post some photos is you like.

    Cheers Rob

You can't on the vx 3 unless you send it away to be done.
