I began a claim on my binoculars (that I had dropped) under my household insurance. Insurance Co would have paid but Lacklands and Leica were so awesome I didn't have to follow through.
Scope? Can't be much different Id guess. No dial? Fogged? dunno but if I had dropped it Id be claiming. Its classed as a sporting good under my policy.

I have replaced an expensive scope among other things on insurance. Had a huge flood one roar, wash my daybag away with everything useful in it. Was all replaced without a problem. Just make sure you list items and their value as I only had a $2500 limit on contents.

I claimed a range finder i either lost or had stolen.
Seems sporting goods attract high devaluation, then with the excess i ended up with around 30 percent of replacement cost.

Interested how ya go on claiming on doesn't work anymore also.

Often comes down to the person you deal with too. If I hadn't been bird watching in the Kawekas but instead hunting the depreciation on the exact same binoculars will probably been worse!

This is when you have to pay more for full replacement cost an not go by there value that falls down fast it would hardly be worth the effort.
