Good question. I like the fact the 1885 has an external hammer. The No1 is the least refined. ( but still very useable).
The M10’s have in my opinion beautiful balance. They are petite, slick and superbly finished. If I was to have one for the action probably an M10. However that’s only one reason you have favorites. The 1885 was stocked by a NZ craftsman and has his blood sweat and tears in the build. That’s my emotional choice.

Moving a few rifles around at the moment and taking the opportunity to oil the metal work and feed the stocks I know its not walnut but my little humble Brno Model 5 still looks fine in my book.

Well it may be walnut but not the traditional European walnut ( Turkish type). They came in three versions walnut, beech, and walnut with checkered hand grip. I’m not an expert on Brno ( although have 4) model 1, 2, 5, and 465 Hornet.

That's not an uncommon grain pattern in walnut

Never really gave it much thought , I used to have a few old Brnos from the fifties and the stocks were always plain mostly , that is a exceptional one , I only have a Model 1 left , never fondled a model 5 , trigger supposed to be better is that a fact ?

Apparently so. I haven’t shot the model 5 much. I have used my model 2 more in action. But close to retirement so I will get these out more and play with them.

Model 5 is a model two action and model one barrel I thought. Trigger should be model 2 design.

Certainly not the dark walnut that is most common. Pretty though. I’ll take a pic of the 3 sometime and put the photo up.
