A friend whose son hunts pigs with dogs bought me his boys bail gun as it wouldnt fire. Its a izzy 18mh, so for it to not work something had to be seriously wrong. It was full of silt, cleaned it got it going and thought thats short. I knew the barrel had been shortened when he got it and the foresight refitted but to make it shorter he had cut the stock back too. Overall length 740mm.
I mentioned the length thing but was told that all his mates guns are the same or shorter. So before returning it I added a spacer and pad on the butt to give a proper length of pull and its now 770 long.
There will obviously be a lot of firearms that are under that 762 mm in circulation many owned by fal holders who are probably unaware of the length restriction as they do not own a mssa, and that could be an issue.

Isn't it silly. I had a minor panic but nah she's all good and besides which I have a B endorsement.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

The point is moot because the AR is over length but surely a person in my circumstances with a now under length AR could just switch it over in the Police records and everything should be cool bananas.

MSSAs effected by the ruling and unable to be modified to be over 762mm will become restricted C Cat firearms, as they aren’t approved pistols, even if you have the B pistol endorsement.

Treat normal people like criminals and eventually they'll lose enough respect for the law/courts/police, that they'll decide they may as well be. These shiny arsed fuckwits in Wellington aren't as clever as they think.

The thing is though is say for example you have a pump shotgun with a 20" barrel and a folding stock.

This means your in the shit.

If you have a chassis Bolt rifle in 300 Blackout with a 12inch barrel and it's a side folder.

Guess what? Your in the shit.

This won't just affect E+B Mark my words.

we dont have the full rulling yet so lets wait to see what it says- but if poorly worded even prake action guns could be affected, my side my completly factory side by side is under 30" end to end when broken open

Just a thought along the lines of rifling that was mentioned back a page our so ago.
Shot guns don't in general have any rifling ummmmmm so where's that leave you if you say brought one of those Sarga (sorry not sure of spelling) shotguns that look like a AK?
Be interesting to see what this final wording is in this court case but my guess is we will be taking it high up our it will go to appeal.

    Exactly.
NZPHQ have flip flopped from refusing to include permanently attached muzzle devices to something that cannot be removed by hand and back again. Hence the court case.
