They all seem like odd bush calibers to me.
When my little 6.5wsm is mean short light in close to out far,

308 and 120gr TSX would be a good bush gun. If my barrel doesn't sell I may end up doing that.
If you don't get Dirt, Blood or Grease under your nails it ain't a hobby
are you reloading mate? I dunno what its like there but in aus unless your reloading a lot of shops wont have a lot of those calibers in stock all the time and if your on a trip or in a hurry that can be quite a pain. I love the less cliche' calibers and even though I reload I was put off by the fact of how hard brass and projectiles can be to find. Go one of them if you want but I honestly think your better going for a similar common calibre e.g. 7mm08, 270, 243, 7mm rem mag
I will be reloading at some stage but at the moment have no need as i brought most of Gavins ammo of him.
The .260 could be the go, i can tell you the .243 and .270 and not on the list for consideration, recoil is a big factor here as i want this rifle to be usable for my boy in a few years time.
Ah i see the reason now!
Otherwise 308 338fed 44mag etc would be my bush recomendations.
Tho 243 if anything should recoil less than 260

"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.
308Win One chambering to rule them all.
Had a .243 Winchester feather weight, jeez that think had some boot, being a feather weight wouldnt of helped but still.
Most of the rifles listed are gonna boot you harder in the shoulder than a .243...even a lightweight one.
If you want to reduce recoil so your boy can use them your probably going to be looking at using lighter weight projectiles, a heavier rifle and/or putting a silencer on to reduce felt recoil.
Any of the cartridges based on the 308 case (243/260/7-08/308) are going to be readily available, reasonably tame on recoil with the right loads/rifle, suitable for a short action/barrelled bush gun.
Out of the cartridges you mentioned, the 260 would seem the sensible choice and would also be quite versatile too.
Mike uses a 260 and the kids load is with 100gr projectiles and they have dropped reds no problems with little recoil....then you use 140gr pills
Fishing ... Hunting its all good
