Shultz and Larsen every review you read they absolutely love them, I've handled Tahr's rifle and seen how well it shoots, I'd buy one in preference to anything else.

I dont under stand the why.

I dont have an 85
I have fondled a few and I like the feel of them myself

Remington made some in the Classic series and I think some mountain rifles as well, Winchester made them in the Featherweight series , there some of each of these rifles floating around NZ somewhere , Also Sako and Tikka

Could do a Winchester but not a Reminton or Tikka.

Sorta depends on what you mean by nice - "Rubens original or Playboy centrefold" ?? Just about all the factory rifles are in the "Playboy C/F" class to me, including the Sako's, just a mass produced rifle catering to the widest possible demographic.

Personally I don't get Blasers but at least they cater for what YOU want to a very large extent.

By my understanding the Zoli is just a Husky 1900 clone (and I think you've had one of those eh).

My current favorite factory rifle is the CZ - heres why:

Some of these are:
- A non-rotating claw type extractor, with a dovetail that binds it to the bolt, the other clones fail to copy this detail (except the Husky 1640) and it does result in failure to extract, that is why I no long have or would hunt with a pre 64 Winchester M70 or a BSA Hunter. CRF is a by-product of this extractor.
- Internal “C” ring, which gives the barrel something to butt to – apart from anything else it allows a very modest barrel reinforce, personally I don’t really buy any of the strength arguments re this feature
- Very rugged bolt stop, other clones tend to be less robust e.g. BSA and Husky, ejector likewise.
- Safety locks the sear – Model 70 excepted the other clones have various arrangements but none as direct and robust as the ZKK. This is a significant variation on the 98 on which the safety acts on the firing pin, but the ZKK is an excellent design (unless you are a “died in the wool” Model 70 sort of guy, by my observation folk from outside of the US tend to have a wider range of tastes on this issue)
- Bolt stripping is simple and easy
The 550/601/602 do have some issues (nothing is perfect):
- The Trigger is a right pain in the neck to tune if any adjustment is possible at all, or it is a single set design that is butt ugly for a start and even more difficult to tune. The 600/602 has the trigger pivoting on the bottom metal, its robust but less than idea and just adds to the trigger tune issues.
- The bolt handle is not optimised for low scope mounting, this is crazy as the integral dovetails beg for really low rings.
- The extractor collar is a pressing, and a poor one at that – however a 98 collar is an exact replacement and will improve the smoothness of the action
There are a few “improvements” on a 98
- True “double square bridge” action for very secure scope mounting
- A much shorter tang than a 98, allows flexibility in stocking for the grip area and is stiffer (if it makes any difference in hunting rifle accuracy I’d be surprised).
- The bottom bolt lug is not split for the ejector
