Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt

Because the people that were into it were gun-botherers, and they did it and then found that all it did was shoot bullets, and burn powder, just like every other cartridge, and nothing got hit unless it got aimed properly, just like anything else. Now they are doing it with something else, that will also be 'better'. And then we will have to listen to them pontificating about that for a while.
I'm not sure what the moral of that story is.
Gimp got out of it because his one didn't shoot for crap I heard...
Fixed the thread title. It was annoying me.
I had a bad gunsmithing experience in approx 2009 that was entirely unrelated to the cartridge, replacement barrel was extremely precise
No, it was the cartridge...
What were the representative groups like gimp?
But thats the thing CH. Gun botherers have very poor memories because they turn over rifles so quickly, so when they are called to account they have to urgently construct justification stories for their own silliness.
They are simply people who are not happy in their own skin, so keep trying new and unusual ways of hitting a piece of paper to feel some sort of comfort. But it never works for long.

Slightly larger, I'm a poor shot
Pffft
i think i had gimps 6.5x47 it shot 30 - 40 mm groups at 400mt consistently with 130 bergers
The 6.5x47 Lapua was designed for shooting 300 metre prone and 3P matches the same as the 6mmBR Norma, because they are so accurate the wacky accuracy nuts who think they need 1/4" MOA rifles to kill deer
decided they had to have one, after shooting a few deer they found out that they are no better than any other medium 6.5 mm at killing deer so they have moved on looking for the next magic cartridge
Agree with Carlsen Highway, this is a bit like the recent .338 (LM and Edge) thing.
Plus a few years back, (pre MSSA debacle), it was the semi Norinco M305 that everyone had to have... until people realised how cr*p they were.
There are certainly a few decent M305s out there though.
Welcome to Sako club.
No, not mine, I think that one originally belonged to forum member "Sidney" ? Mine was just recently sold to someone else.
e: as above selling the rifle was entirely unrelated to the cartridge, my .260 will likely end up a 6.5x47L when I shoot out the factory barrel, since a factory Sako rebarrel is impossible, and I had one of the first x47 rifles in NZ, wasn't following much of a trend at the time, it's just a good cartridge.
