Thread: Winchester 68-22 short, long and long rifle TDR.

Hey lads,

I've got a winchester 68 - .22, one of the early ones with the hand grooves so probably for the 30's or 40's.

Is there anywhere that sells .22 short? Been looking around and can't find any, just to plink with.

It's a cool little take down rifle, would like to put some .22 short through it.

Your Mod 68 was made from approx 1934 to 1944. About 98,500 were made - essentially this is the Model 67 with target sights. Everything else is purely Mod 67. which was made from 1935 until 1963 , save for a period during WW2. Your one is missing the foresight hood.

The finger groove stock was made from 1934 to 1935 so this is a very early one. I have a Mod 68 which is one of the last made.

I'm guessing the chances of finding a foresight hood are rather limited.

Just while we're on this little rifle, the bluing is all but gone, does anyone think getting it reblued would be a sin?

Yours is a very tidy and mostly complete. Yes it would be a sin.
