Where in taupo mate?
Hey neckshot is the 243barrel off a mod 70 I just brought a 243 featherweight mod 70 and wouldn't mind a new barrel for it is it blued, with most of the blue still on it? then the next question would be, How much are you after for it. Cheers 6.5 x55mad
There is a pre-64 on TM in .264 Win Mag at the moment, pricey though!
"Here's the deal I'm the best there is. Plain and simple. I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence."
let me/ 7mmsaum know if you could go around to his place when you get back via PM and you can view it mate.
I called around and wasn't able to find any new Model 70s in stores...
The closest I got is HnF store in Henderson managed to call the distributor for me and if they are lucky they'll get couple of orders from US a year, and have no idea when they'll have the next order coming in.
Bummer, I was quite keen for a new featherweight. Probably now I'll settle in for a Remington 700 or some cheap communist gun like Zastava or Brno.
The earlier M70's are all long action , it only later they made the action fit the cartridge , The M700 action fits the round and there are more hot up parts for it than any other action on the market ,Having owned both I prefer the 700

Cheers for the input Druid. What 700 do you have?
Whats the difference in weight between the two?
depends which models you look at
rem 700s and winny mod 70s have both been made for 40 odd years in a vast array of models within models
im looking at sps synthetic blued or stainless. against model 70 featherweight compact
The only 700 I have at present is a Classic in 221 Fireball
