    HnF it was a one day only sale so I doubt its there at $800 of retail for sure.Id prob only ever get a sako or mod 70 if I get another hunting rifle.

    Hey neckshot is the 243barrel off a mod 70 I just brought a 243 featherweight mod 70 and wouldn't mind a new barrel for it is it blued, with most of the blue still on it? then the next question would be, How much are you after for it. Cheers 6.5 x55mad

    yes of a ultimate shadow mod 70 blueing is in good nick yours for $80 bucks mate its in A gun safe in Napier can sort from there if your keen.

    There is a pre-64 on TM in .264 Win Mag at the moment, pricey though!

    Sweet dude that sounds pretty good i am working down south at the moment. would i be able to check it out when I get back and go from there if that works with you? I live in chb and I work out of hastings so should be able to meet up with you somewhere

    I called around and wasn't able to find any new Model 70s in stores...
    The closest I got is HnF store in Henderson managed to call the distributor for me and if they are lucky they'll get couple of orders from US a year, and have no idea when they'll have the next order coming in.
    Bummer, I was quite keen for a new featherweight. Probably now I'll settle in for a Remington 700 or some cheap communist gun like Zastava or Brno.

    The earlier M70's are all long action , it only later they made the action fit the cartridge , The M700 action fits the round and there are more hot up parts for it than any other action on the market ,Having owned both I prefer the 700
    Get as close as you can then six feet closer

    depends which models you look at

    rem 700s and winny mod 70s have both been made for 40 odd years in a vast array of models within models

    im looking at sps synthetic blued or stainless. against model 70 featherweight compact

    The only 700 I have at present is a Classic in 221 Fireball
    Get as close as you can then six feet closer
