I got them to ship a handguard over for me at the start of the year.
I suspect I got it without any hassels beacause the US supplier wrote "metal part" as the description.
Send NZ Post an Email and see what they come back to you with.

I emailed them asking if they would ship a shotgun charging handle and they said they don't ship firearm parts full stop, I have heard of people getting them through though. Try the search function too btw, it's been covered before.
Tried the search function square1, but need uptodate info. Think an email to NZ post may be the best option.
Got a scope shipped to me from Canada while I was living in Wellington labelled "sporting optic" and NZ customs opened it but let it go through. Perhaps there are different procedures for brand new optics, as mine was clearly used and shipped from one owner to the next.
I got a scope a few weeks ago, the American place that shipped it had it under sporting goods so I left it as that, came without a hitch.
That was before that notice though, and I don't think I'd risk it. Some shops ship here anyway.

Thanks Beetroot. Pisses me off that you get ripped off on shipping costs. Optics zone quoted me $50 us to ship a bushnell red dot. Optics planet want 40 plus dollars. You shop is $17 nz. Will have a look at the other sights you suggest.

I have brought bits from Richard at Westlake market... service is outstanding, and been easy to communicate and deal with.
..oh and shipping is VERY affordable compared to typical us stores!

I was quoted $22 for Youshop, was shocked when I found out it was actually $42.
But when it arrived it had a massive box that the original place shipped it it. Was going to hit them up, but kinda can't be arsed.
It took a long time to get to the Youshop place also, so if you are willing to wait then it's certainly a good alternative.
Well was until a week ago.
The handguard I ordered only took 2 days to get to the US warehouse then another week for it to arrive here.
Freight was $26.
Very reasonable I thought.
