Got out for a quick bush hunt Saturday evening in the southern Ruahines. Left the truck at 5pm dropped down a gully up the other side took 15min going quick. Started seeeing fresh sign slowed right down then stalked for about 80m. Saw a bit of movement, a hind feeding vitals obscured then a dopey spiker appeared feeding away from me, finally lifted its head so copped it in the back of the neck. All done in 20min, home in time to put my 3 year old to bed! Love the easy ones!
