Great hunting on the sheep... they seem to absorb the impacts pretty good... what calibres were you shooting them with?

I hear February is a good time to be over in the Chathams with more settled weather.

Yeah the wool seems to soak up the impact a bit. These were all shot with a 7mm08 using a Berger 140 grain projectile. Last time I used my .308 with 130 grain TTSXs.

All bar one ram only required one shot this time. The one that was on the edge of the cliff required two and just about fell off the cliff, it wasn’t fun to watch!

We were there in February for the whole month in 2018, wasn’t much wind but there was some rain. Like anywhere you just have to go and take a coat.

You should contact Chris and give him a visit. I’m sure he’d like the professional support and I’m sure he’d be a great tour guide! :-)

February is a good month to go.
Not only as far as weather for hunting but also weather for access as some of the properties with animals on a difficult after wet weather
Pitt crossing can be weather dependent as well

Was an amazing trip Thanks Craig. This has been on my bucket list for many many years. 1 as we have family friends on the island and 2 my mums family landed as German missionaries so we have plenty of relatives over there. In fact the guy we went with was one of those...... the fact that I'm a hunter added to the wish to go and pretty well cemented it.

    Awesome memories for sure

Looking to Euro a couple of mine and shoulder mount the bigger one

I guess you rented or borrowed the quads over there rather than ship your own?

To hunt over in the Chatham Islands you pretty much either need to know some one or use a guide. There’s a couple of guides on the main island and one on Pitt Island.
Im really lucky that both times I’ve hunted over there I went with a mate.
For the best all round experience I’d look up Flower Pot Lodge on Pitt Island, hunt, fish and have a look around.
    It’s a bucket list place.
    😀
