As for the racing stripes...(I should patent the idea..lol) I have a carbon fibre stock. now they are not very grippy, so I got some grip tape for skate boards. Its what they stick on top of a skateboard for grip. So it is effectively sticky sand paper. Anyway I got a sheet of that and cut little bits off and stuck it on. So if a bit comes off, no big deal as I can just stick a bit more on.
