Equaled my 2015 deer tally already

Well it wasn't too hard, I only shot one deer in 2015. Went out on Friday with a mate. Forecast wasn't great but I hoped we might catch a slight break in the weather. Saw 6 deer in total, but only got a shot at one. Not my best shooting but one shot put the deer down. Hopefully it isn't the last one for the year!

Good stuff Stu, good to some early runs on the board. I got my first for 2016 on Friday night too.

What was the projectile? I think I can see a red smudge of an exit on her off side?

@Tahr 162 amax from 7SAUM, only doing 2808fps. The projectile didn't exit, looks like it hit the liver (by the look of the colour of the blood coming out) and then in to the stomach. I didn't look for it, couldn't be bothered getting that dirty

Gee Stu, that's slow for a SUAM isn't it?

That country looks great, I think I recognise it from my university days in Christchurch. We called our mid week trips 'research'!

    Nice animal.

    (68g of 2217 gives approx 3080fps with a 162)

Work up to that powder charge if a lack of pressure signs allows, norma brass might only allow 67g

I'm using 65gr 2217. Initially I was jamming (accidently) the amax and got pressure signs above 65gr with the soft Norma custom brass. I've since seated them deeper and gone to 67gr and go about 2870ish but it didn't shoot any better so I've stuck with the 65gr load. Has worked out to 600yds so far, which is about as far as I want to shoot with this rifle. Being so light 6.75 lbs all up with scope etc it is harder to shoot than my 10lb 7RUM.
