    The understory is literally eaten bare around there erniec. I doubt if adequate rainfall could do much for the forest when any new growth likely gets browsed just as soon as it pops up. I'm not surprised about the skinny deer. It's also a longer walk than most hunters are up for, unless flying in. Go for a backsteaks mission and shoot more deer fellas!

    Yup, thats about the size of it @joelhenton. Bugger all seedling recruitment in anything remotely palatable compounded with a naturally cunning and cautious species of deer in an area that gets relatively little pressure....perfect situation for making small skinny deer
