This year has been quite busy for me, more on the hunting side of things rather than work which is always nice.
First up was a work trip to the Nelson Lakes. My second ever Chamois, a nice young buck with nice hooks and good potential I’m told.
My first decent hunt of the year in early March was my second ever trip chasing Sika in the Central North Island. A week camping on the tops. It is amazing how far you can go once you get up there. Managed to secure my third ever Sika, a wee 6 point stag. The number of flies in that warm NI country still amazes me.
hillclima’s neat dogs helped carry all our gear...
Another work trip to the Nelson Lakes with enough spare time after work to get a few sausages:
The red roar rolled round which I spent in Otago with TripleT. A few younger animals taken unfortunately but all meat was put to good use. 26kg of sausages from one animal! Although we did well in animal numbers, the roaring was a bit half hearted.
The Blue Mountains this year were a bit lacklustre with not much croaking going on. Did manage a poor looking buck though...
I managed another buck in the Greenstone, but not of the same species...
And just this last week we had a bit of a washed out trip into the Edison River. No animals were shot unfortunately
