First bow hunt (video with kill shots )

Thought i would give bow hunting a bit of a whirl, heres a video of me and a mate going for our first stroll after stinkies, havent had to many chances to shoot goats (havent had much of a interest in it) with the rifle but thought the bow could offer a bit more of a challenge. Sorry about the quality, i had to reduce it dramatically for it to upload. Filmed on the video camera i bought from tui_man

On another note, me and a mate are heading down to queenstown on thursday morning and driving to balfour for the issf south zone shoot on the weekend. Seems like a long shot but is anyone shooting it? Im taking the rifle also as we dont fly home until wednesday, was hoping to head into the hills for a tahr or cham as we have never had the chance to go after them, it would be great to get some meat. Waiting to hear back from a couple of guys in regards to possible places to go for a stroll/ mountain climb haha. If anyone down that way is keen to go for a hunt and doesnt mind two north islanders tagging along i would like to hear from you... we dont mind driving or walking. Im sure we could repay the favour if you came up to the big smoke.

They was a great vid. That second goat you got there was a perfect shot.
Where about's was that? Middle of the north island?

I badly need to arrange some time off work to go shoot some more stinkies.

south of the bombays, north of hamilton. yip 2nd shot was a cracker. all 3 goats went no more than 30 m, the first one actually lasted the longest, even with the massive blood trail. those broad heads sure do some damage. last billy the arrow cut through his cheek and got lodged in his heart, internal damage was pretty amazing. nzteza, I guess its a case of its looks worse than it was, he was literally stone dead by the time I got to him, maybe 30 second after the shot

I live in Pukekohe, so not far at all from that.
Didn't realise there were goats so far north. I presume it was private property? The missuses parents have another dairy farm in mere mere somewhere that I need to get out on. No goats on it though.

What kind of bow have you got? I've got a 55lb compound el-cheapo I picked up from archery direct for a bit of fun. They reckon it'd work for goats. I've got a few broadheads but haven't shot with them yet.

. just came out of the eyre mountains near queenstown, mean country up there, I missed a cham, my mate rolled it the next day. we also went into fiordland for a night and saw 1 deer but it was good to get into some new country.

also shot a 115 in balfour so that should improve my place on the ranking list for next years world cups and world champs.

west coast in febuary is the plan, go for a week hunt after issf nationals on christchurch.
