    First Deer

It's been four years since I shot my first deer with VC and KiwiGreg

Needless to say, I've come a long way since then! I'm still chasing my goal of a solo public land Sika.

I've secured a few species now but all of my best hunts have been in the story, not the trophy.

Best hunts for me include this one weekend with the two lads. Thanks so much guys for the great experience and for starting a life long addiction.

Consider hunting Northern Birch again in the Kawekas, the Sika you saw on ferny Ridge are still there.
That area has a very large Sika population, -even stay in that same camping spot you used last time
There are So many Sika there that you cant go a day without seeing one.

Thats the possie to get your first solo public land Sika, easy 80km drive, super easy walk.

I think we reckoned it was around 90kg? I would have been maybe 55-57kg at that stage!
