you go Tilly...... great write up thankyou for taking time to share it. Ive seen spikers mobbed up with sheep and or cattle before, lonelyness does funny things to them but yes have to agree the fawn was probably orphaned and the spiker would be glad of company.mate shot a good solid chammy buck that had a chammy kid with it for company,we suspect same had happened there.
Last night. I decided to shoot the bottom right one because it looked yummy. 180yards and I muffed the neck shot, and they all departed the scene. I should have known better because it was too windy for trick shots. But anyway you know the rule, if you shoot and miss you still check.
When I got over there I tracked around into the wind through the adjacent scrub and out of the blue Tilly found it about 60 yards from the clearing. Hit low in the neck.
I was pretty buggered when I got back with the deer - I had walked 17 km for the day according to my 'phone tracking thing.
Nice.....and good outcome for you all.
What calibre?
Good stuff Tahr , that dog has been handy aye
The Green party putting the CON in conservation since 2017
Could just about stuff the small one in a slow cooker. Good job for nailing the spiker as well. Nothing worse than not being able to find a wounded animal.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
Got wet last night...300saum, 275 & 300 yards.
