Was there a fortnight ago. They now have the worlds largest stopbanks erected. Will be interesting to see how they fared.

JUST BRING THAT 300MM OVER THIS SIDE OF THE DEVIDE...... it would hardly touch the ground before plants sucked it up.

The media never let the truth of West coast weather get in the way of a good story. Here's a local Franz Josef resident on the news this morning: "“At the moment it’s just consistently drizzly, which is not that different to other times of the year,” he said. “I’ve certainly not got any intention to leave. It’s an event that’s not as catastrophic as predicted so far.”

I am a bit over the constant weather warnings. Since moving to Hokitika where the weather is better than Rotorua. We find the predictions. Yr.no included very optimistic. The Coasters just deal with it and accept it. They observe the forecast's and take it into account. It certainly doesn't warrant anything to stop them pursuing their lifestyle choices. Friend sent me a pic of his 31st one of the year. I'm struggling to find space in the freezer for anymore. If a tree blocks the road a local uses' it for firewood they don't phone the council down here. I really like the move south.

2 days ago the forecast was for 27mm of rain today, last night it was increased to 30+mm and we didn't get a drop. I'm not bothering to check anymore.

Having just returned from a months holiday on the coast I can vouch that Hoki has a lot more going for it than just better weather than Rotorua

    Is it any wonder?
How many countries our size have two state funded weather services? Met Service and Niwa.
I personally use neither, multiple quality weather forecasting options out there.

If anyone knows old mate Seymour, perhaps a word in his ear.
Give one the chop, or at least amalgamate them and save our tax dollars…

What you mean they dont all stand around taking pics of a fallen down tree to show everyone on social media what a fallen down tree looks like very odd

Yes we flew out last Saturday (2nd Period Haast) in perfect weather. We were talking to two guys at Heli Office who were flying in to the Mueller - I said I would flag it, they went anyway, poor buggers I hope they're ok? A number of party's didn't fly in/cancelled for 3rd Period.
