Long time back shooting Ureweras somtimes came across stags with only one antler or simikar deformities. At the time the thoughts were that the deer had suffered a back leg injury, like an old wound from falk, fighting or bullet. I have myself shot three that had deformed or a missing antler that had healed wounds in the back leg. Not always the case though.

Good effort Tahr and Tilly, bet those muffins and tea tasted nice.Hope Tilly got something too,for that sharp nose radar.
Thanks @Trout
She always gets tit-bits while I deal to the deer.
And she spends a lot of time burying hocks I shot 59 deer last year so that's over 200 hocks that she's got scattered around the country if she ever gets caught out without dinner There's even 8 out the back of Tekapo - I bet she found that hard digging - she always takes them out of sight and then re-appears when I'm ready to head off.
A thermos at the truck is a life saver.
