Haven't been hunting much in the last few years and been trying to get back into it more. A few injuries and just life in general being very busy has made our trips all too infrequent.
We've been trying to get out more as both the Mrs and I always enjoy it and have always hunted as a pair.
Last night we headed into a spot after some pigs. The drive in should have been a clue of the weather to come.
Low cloud and rain in the dark slowed the journey considerably and the wind and rain made for a restless sleep.
The morning wasn't much better with squally showers and blowing hard.
Got out at just after sun up and checked out a few likely spots putting up with the weather but nothing else was dumb enough to be out, just us.
At about lunchtime just as we were about to pull pin we looked across another face and 4 yearling pigs were breaking from the scrub in a brief break in the rain. A plan was hatched to circle around to above them and come down on them.
Worked a treat with both of us taking a nice yearling each. Upon which time the rain started again of course.
Dog was thrilled although he's not really interested in pigs and when I asked him to take me to the pig he took me to two fallow standing behind some gorse. He was a bit miffed I didn't shoot them I think (we don't shoot the fallow here - the landowner likes them around).
Perfect for a few slow-cooked pulled porks!
