Happy Birthday Dougie, I enjoyed the story. Become a perfectionist with your 223, gather every scrap of knowledge you can on your quarry be they sika, red or fallow and you will one day measure up with the best.

Hot barrels and sagging tail-lines. Or in your case bulging meat safes Dougie.

I'm coughing up a lung today mate, will be happy as when the day comes that I don't get these mega colds every few weeks.

And once I'm back to being able to breath properly, it'll be packs on backs training up te mata peak every day - my ego is still bruised that I couldn't carry out the whole way!

Happy birthday Dougie and well done

Lucky you got out hunting the only thing I spent the weekend doing was house hunting but finally managed to bag one yesterday afternoon.

Such a shame you cant bring rifles to open homes to help with negotiations!

You set a high bar for yourself Dougie; but you also set a high bar for those who will follow you. You have reason to be proud especially of your tenacity. Good for you lady!

Can you really call yourself a novice anymore?
I feel like this haul, as well as getting the blood black beauty has been waiting for AND the fact it's on your birthday gives you a significant level up haha
