Thanks for a nice write up and photos.Felt like i was there in the back ground.Nothing wrong with a nice even ten, looks good. You hear a lot of storys about hunters having a cuppa, deer shows up 10mtrs away and the rifle just out of reach.

Cheers @Trout. I don't get out nearly enough as I would like so don't have many tales to tell, but thought it might be useful for hunters like me or newer that there are ups and downs in hunting. It's not all monster 14 point plus stags, and deer that drop on the spot. Mistakes and stuff ups happen, but its important to know that fortunes can change quickly and when it goes right its so good!
Excellent honest write up with a cool ending, well done....i missed my first (3) shots at a stag, but dropped the second one a day later....brilliant feeling eh......
While I might not be as good as I once was, Im as good once as I ever was!

Great read. Very tidy 10
Loved the write up and Pic's a well deserved 10 pointer for sure.
A well written account that I enjoyed and learned something from. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next one.
If you have a garden and a library, you have all you need. Oh, and a dog, and a rifle
That was a bloody good read mate !!

Its not what you get but what you give that makes a life !!
Great story and photos. Thanks!
Awesome shit, its great to have a good mate with you that knows their stuff
Great write up!
Sounds like a bloody good mate and memorable hunt!
Mistakes are awesome for learning as long as you are willing to look at the where, how and why it went wrong. You'll be proficient at hunting in no time.
Cheers for the good read
Very nice read, thanks for sharing. Made me want to shoot my old Sako 6x45.
Good write up. Cheers
great write up, well done
Pack out heavy
@Kimber 7mm-08
I’m curious to know if you’ve been able to settle on reasons as to why you were missing close range shots? It’s a really interesting subject because we’ve all done it and it can be inexplicable (as well as maddening). I’ve watched others that I’m guiding do it a good couple of times and there’s been some learnings in that for me (and them).
I note that you said you were using a .300 WSM. That’s a Kimber in the photo, right? I’ll put a starter for 10 on the table and ask whether the heavy recoil impulse in such a light rifle is potentially causing significant muzzle flip? Another question I would have about the rifle is what is the trigger pull weight?
I’ve some ideas about close range snap shooting that have been distilled over the years and it’s an interesting discussion to have.
