    New project rifle blooded.

Finally got out for a hunt with a new project I have been playing with.
    Mauser 98 Action
Shilen Barrel - chambered in 6mm Remington
    Boyds Stock

    Action ready to Duracoat

    All oiled and painted...

    Accurate enough...

Thanks to Walker and MeatHunta for playing their respective parts in this project.

Yeah it is the original recoil pad, its fine on a 6mm... The whole set-up is heavy as hell anyway...

Thanks for that was looking into the featherweight thumb hole or the Praiare(SP?) stock for my marlin 7mm08. Those product pics on the boyds site does not do those stocks any justice.

Nope, 24" barrel, Laminated stock and a Mauser 98 = solid. The rilfe balances/points well though

Was the 105gr Targex for the 1:10 twist. Worked well.

That barrel was originally intended for shooting fallow deer in the Bluies
You can be proud of that job

Thats a really nice looking rifle. Good on you for choosing something not as common like the 6mm. One day I'm going to build another .257 Improved and always thought it would be on a more common modern action as stock manufacturers make more variants to fit them. I hadn't really considered an old 98' as I thought stock choices would be limited, but yours looks great.

He generally has a roaring horn and/or antlers though, rather than a jandal
