NZ LR Shooting Course 18th Feb 2012

5am and the sound of nickleback ring in my ear, time to get up, get sorted and hit the
road. I headed off to pick up The Claw who stayed in Alex and off we going pointing towards Cromwell. We got a phone call from the land owner at 6am, that would never be a good call I thought just before the shoot, turns out the targets had been set abit close to the cowshed….. I quick call to Gimp, he answered with a f*#king hell and a few more calls to the farmer and it was sorted. A quick stop to pick up Norway, some introductions and again we gassed the Santa Fe in the direction of the Lindas Pass. 8am a quick coffee stop at Omarama and we pushed onto Kurow were we came across a group of doggy looking chaps, some in full camo, some looking ready for battle and all looking keen to get the day started. Gimp was happy he didn’t have to change the target position.
Gimp and Norway headed off to put up the paper targets I had and we followed along like sheep a few minutes later.

In Attendance, shooters Gimp, The Claw, horihunter, outdoorlad, redbang, madjon, kitto, 45South, Kiwi Greg, DAF, ZIGIANI, Blair

We started the course with some weird Norwegian bonding exercises that I think were ment to bring the inner man out of the shooters, this followed by some group hugs which kiwi gregs misses was involved in….. that’s another story.

The shooting course involved shooting position, rifle position and hold, Spotting, spotter calling, Scope adjustments based on spotters call, Wind and reading wind, along with plenty of other stuff to keep everyone on there toes.
Some tests were done at you own pace, some were timed and involved shooting several shots under the clock. Alot of the tests were aimed at putting the shooter under pressure and sometimes outside there comfort zone.

Plenty of rocks to work with, it was the spotters job to talk the shooter into A rock of Norways choice.

We shot a few gongs and generally blasted away for an hour or so and we finished the day with plenty of give aways, thanks to Gunworks, 45 South hunting supplies, Swazi.
