GWH, back in the meat hunting days it was all on over opening weekend. I was talking to an ex hunting mate on the phone about it last weekend as I drove over to the Wairarapa for a hunt.

We knew who the cockies were who shot ducks and where their ponds were...so we knew where they were for the day...and likely pissed to boot.
So we made hay (read, $$$$$) while the sun shone.

A bit naughty, but that was a different era and now long gone.
    And now we behave.

But I still prefer to hunt deer to ducks on opening weekend.

Congrats on your 2 deer. Snee Rd sure gets a hammering, and still produces, eh.

    Good work GWH

Bet those boys are hooked now.

Teach them to carry (without complaining) and you'll be away

I also gave the ducks and Snee Rd a miss and went chasing some deer elsewhere.

Put Marky in front of a his first spiker at 320m, the 30-06 spoke up and the deer hit the deck.

His first ever deer, so he was a happy boy too and completed a great carry.

I was pretty happy for him too.

    Good times for all

    Cheers

Nice mate bloody good effort beats shooting birds any day of the week (unless they are blonde,50-60kg,under 5ft6, and you can crack nuts between there ass cheeks, but then it wouldn't be a rifle that you are shooting them with) , young fellas would have loved it.Awesome

Yeah. Now that the cat is out of the bag about Snee Rd, I read in the Herald Tribune that council are considering traffic lights at the SH50 intersection.
