    Pine tree's and Papa face's.

As some of you my know the early start this morning came to quick! but when you're given an opertuinty to go hunting fellow you get up full of motovation.
I drove to my mates pad and we headed of with the red sky giving us a clue as to what the weather might get up to.We were heading to a uncles pine block in Whanganui around 150ha of pine with some native patches and a small amount of old sheep paddocks, all new ground and species to me.There were four of us Myself my mate and his sun and the mates brother......3 rifles and a budding phtographer!!.with plenty of fire power around i played tail end charlie for the morning stint were we headed up a steep track to the back boundry all the way up this track we encounterd mobs of two or three goats.........they were safe due to not being on the target list.We got to the back boundry and hopped onto a ridge to head back down and we split into three and took a ridge each.
apart from getting bluffed out i made my way back to the ute unevently.once we were all back to the ute we headed over to the uncles place for tea and sammies. We spent an hour there coaching the all blacks and running the country untill we were happy the world was in order and headed back to a park up location.as we approached the area i seen a funny looking strainer post up in an old sheep paddock!! the strainer started to walk! we locked onto this fellow
and I had my 260ai in go mode so it was my shot.............210 yards head on shot no need to dail i was gonna crack him right between the blades as i looked thru my scope i couldnt help notice his coat......I found myself admiring it thru my scope and then rememberd how much i wanted to see how well my rifle was gonna perform using the 140 amax...............supurbly! the fellow dropped like he had been hit with "the hammer of thor" and never moved

The boys were impressed lucky me!!.After we dressed this handsome boy out and finnished patting his great looking coat we headed of into some new spot's for the arvo i teamed up with the boy and the other two went another way to meet up later on.Other than the deer i just shot myself me and the young fulla had never seen fellow before so were hoping we would see some more.We moved along a track and came close to an open face which had a few old ewes on we stoped under cover and looked from a distance................"there's one" "theres another" untill we counted 15 or so!!!!!! he was tacking a picture a second!!!.
we sat down and just watched these animals feed away one white fellow came out and then a awsome palmented stag but with only one side!!!.What an experiance the day was amongst the pine trees and mingled with deer prints and smells and peice and quiet. When i can get the camera off my mates boy il post some more pics i only have my phone as my camera had a fall.
    cheers jase.
