    Quick Boyd Visit

Few photos from a quick Boyd trip Brett and I completed early December. The fishing was good fun, albeit really challenging. Eight fish were released unharmed, apart from a bit of toothache.

The deer were a little few and far between, with only 5 seen. I managed to tip one over at 450m about 830 on the second night. Although it immediately dropped at the shot, finding it in thick, tussocky scrub across 2 valleys proved tough without a dog.

Weather was perfect the whole time. Enjoy.

Pre-trip sight in at Taupo. The shot closest to the bull was with a cold barrel. Happy with that! Three shot group was about .5 inch. The 270WSM will hopefully do the trick down South on some tahr in January.

    No Fixed wing ??
Why - or is that a silly Q in today's "modern" World :-(

And the machine still uses the strip and not drop your gear closer to Lodge
Great place but. Walk Mangatinoka Hut to Boyd's in 1 day with full pack - that was 30 years ago but

Would have loved to have had my Fly rod too - other Forum Administrator was in there and cooked a Troat that day we came in from Mangatinoka - not sure if we were famished from 8 days away or it was the most perfect cooked Troat I have ever had - 6lb caught opening Day (so I think Oct 1 1987)

    Thanks for great photos

I think he went to the private Boyd block
Heli sika has the rights - fixed wing operator lost them a year or 2 ago

    Awesome pics

    OK
Looks like the main strip we used to land with Cam in the Cessna (think it was a Cessna)
For memory the border of PVT and State was somewhere there - so maybe this is correct - boundary split the strip ??
Brno (Bruno) still part owner of Helisika ??

Yep, they dropped us at the far end of the Boyd airstrip. Takes 10 mins off the walk downstream to where we camp.
