    Seano and Corey's Deer Hunt

Well first things first ... im not the best writer and have nothing on all the reports ive read thus far ..but ill give it a wee crack..will keep it "K.I.S.S"

Well my mate and I took off from CHCH last Thursday morning, southwestland here we come ...all pumped up for a 4 day deer hunting expedition .So after some time driving and getting to where we camped up,we pitched our tents got our equipment ready and went out for a evening stroll .
After some time we spotted two Hinds eating and having a ball in the late day sunlight..we stalked them for some time I eyed one up ..and they were both getting very itchy on it ...so my mate say .. " just give it a crack" ... So here I go.. shot is a good 300mtrs ...Lined her up ..... and CRACK !!! I ask my mate did it go down ? as he is spotting it through bino's .... NO ! .. take another shot he says... so reload rifle and CRACKKKKKKKKKKK ! again I ask did I hit it ?
Unfortunately the answer came back no .. and both animals disappear for another day ..
Was happy to see that there were animals around,we did a bit more looking around but decided to give it another go in the morning ...then on the way home we spotted one literally 30mtrs from us facing us ..I just about had a heart attack ...we both tried to scope it , but wasn't working out to well as we couldn't see shit all,and weren't risking a dangerous shot.. next thing its a gone burger
So the next morning we head out again,do a day of walking, around using bino's, etc .. then just on sun down a nice stag walks out into a clearing the we can see directly into .. im telling my mate its his turn have a go .... so his asks me to scope it also with my rifle and have a crack if he misses ...
So we lined him up for few mins then .. the countdown started ..kinde felt like I was in a lethal weapon movie for a sec .... Is the 3.2 ...1 BANG ... Or 3.2...BANG ??? lol
So here we go BANG!!!! CRACK!!!! ..Its a hit but not sure from who ? it staggers a few meters the n behind some flax and as far as we new it was down ....we started to think about going down in to the valley to retrieve it ,but it got dark and unsafe ...So plan of attack was to go back first thing in morning to look and retrieve it ...
So we make it back to the car to go back to where we a camped up ..... battery is flat .... by now its well dark and no one is stopping for two guy on the side of the road ,finally we think lets start walking hope wee can flag someone down or find house or something ... finally a flag down a car ... freedom campers looked at us funny to guys grubby as carrying rifles .... managed het them try jump start us ... but didn't work his leads were like fuse wire "useless" ... Another hunter came along I asked him for leads but he fobbed us off as he seen us there earlier in night and he was going to stop and hunt where we were ...unfortunately we had told him about to dark to retrieve now car broken down ...
So next morning as soon as we could make it to the hunting ground where we thought we had shot the stag .... make a mega bushwacker mission to get down valley then over to were it should be laying ... my mate YELLS "BLOOD !! BLOOD ! heaps of it ... we followed it then it stopped suddenly, then more blood and nothing .....Have got im back our minds now that the bloke from the night before beat us to the punch with his dogs.. oh well will never know and is something to chalk up to next time ... oh and thanks for leaving us stranded with a good 2 hours walk with packs and rifles etc ....
Anyhoo onto the last day ,we get up early as ... head off to some spots ..looking at one with bino's for a bit then my mate says theres one ! a lovely Hind ... I couldn't see it for ages then Yup its one alright lol .... I said his turn ... so after many mins lining him up .. its 200+ mtr shot ... im eyeing him up through my scope .. mate said watch him and if not go down to have a crack ... so
I can hear my mate controlling his breathing ..then a ready from him .. a yup from me .. then BANG !!! and then myself yelling DOWN !!!!! YehaHAhAAHhAAAAAAAAAA !
First thing I got him make his rifle safe .. Big high five ! then time to mission it to retrieve the bugga
So down we go find her ,gut etc her ..then up onto my mates back for the walk out ....
He was happier than Larry ! so the mission begun to get it out and home ... we took our time getting up and out stopping my mate several time to ensure he has breaks
So yeah back to the car in the boot it goes in a meat sack .. and back off to where we were camped up .... rope over tree string her up.... few funny looks from the tourists lol ... then pack up our tents etc .. some breakfast then down from the tree carried over to boot of car ...ppl looking at us funny like its a dead body .... mind you it was dripping blood out ...
Then home in the car and back to CHCH with one very very pleased best mate .
Cant thank him enough for the great time away and the whole experience ,I cant wait till our next trip ..im hoping it wont be to far off ,maybe even get away for the ROAR.
Ill post some pics .. hope story is ok .... haven't written like this since High School.... and that was many moons ago lol

Well done to you and your mate Seano. If the prick that wouldn't help you did go and boost your deer then he is a maggot of the first order.

Sounds like a good outing except for the dead battery and the missing stag.

    Cheers

    Cheers guys ..
Did I mention that to retrieve the Hind we had to use canoes(that were stashed in bushes at base of valley/ by locals Im guessing?) and cross a small lake put the hind in one canoe and tow it to the bank and drag it up ,then the gutting process ..
Yup couple times I tried keep the weight off my mates back and keep him from falling backwards as it was fairly step at some/most stages of climb out .
Heres couple of pics of deer in the canoe lol .... every now and it would give a kick or two ...thought she was going tip out .... hard case man ... will be telling this story and lol with my mate for years to come .
Yeah bugga about the Battery ,and next time will be taking booster pack for battery ...Name: 923391_679625328746859_744495263_n.jpg
