Thread: Sika/Red hybrid 2013 Kaweka's

I shot this manky looking thing in the pissing rain last May. It was trotting parallel to me when I saw it, I let out a pretty good Meeeaaaargh and it stopped long enough for a shot at 180m.
The head looked totally wrong for a Sika, with a long nose, not the chiseled, pointed features of a Sika stag.
I finally got around to Googling Sika skull sutures, and compared it to another Sika skull.
Mine has 'Y' shaped sutures, a Sika's should be 'T' shaped as seen.
I didn't check the rump/tail features, though I did notice the weird long nose and large body.
At least he's out of the gene pool, he tasted nice, but cost me a knee op with the carry.
