Not saying it is the case with this stag but sometimes they grow their velvet in different country to where they are during the roar and then may return after roar to fatten up. Johnny on the spot sometimes.
either way that is a cracker

Hamish, there is a particular area that the stags seem to congregate in to grow their velvet. Open scrub that lets the sun in and plenty of feed (on private land). Then, without warning they disappear from their velvet area and I next see them in the public land native during the roar. Then they disperse and I see them all over the shop, but always where the best feed is.
And so the cycle continues.
What cracker he is !!

Nothing to be SNEEzed at
Went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.
He looks similar to the tangled wire Stag, same area?
I too wouldn't shoot such a fine specimen in velvet. I hope you catch up with him in a few months time.
