as one who ate his share of nz army ration packs in his 13year tenure id say as long as it comes out the lower end its doin its job. nowt wrong with baked beans ,tho shes inclined to make some blokes a touch fragant in their flatulence.

Back in 1991 we did 7 days of rice for filling, soup for flavouring and peas for colouring. Glad I shot a chamois on day 2 to spice it up a bit. Food options are way better now.
