Well done to you all, what an epic family holiday. Congrats on the tahr, sounds like you all put in a good effort to get the results, and you got up above the fog and cloud.
Definitely consider moving south, I moved down with the family 12 years ago from Rotorua and don't see myself ever moving back north.
Thanks for the report, what a novel.

You are not wrong there mate. Almost 2 years ago to the day my wife, daughter and I were T-Boned at a 100km/h intersection (other driver sailed right through despite the stop sign). We rolled 4-5 times and ended up in a ditch. The car was completely mangled but we walked away mostly unscathed apart from my wife having some ongoing injuries. Since then we have a differen't outlook and appreciation for life. If there is something we want to do now we don't muck around and just make it happen. You never know when your time is going to be up so you have to make the most of every day and appreciate every minute that we have with our loved ones.

Haha to be honest I typed it up on the computer but because I just used photos off my phone I thought it would be easier to copy and paste it from an email into Tapatalk and add the photos that way.

What a cracker of a holiday, Great to have the whole family get involved with all the activities.
sounds like it's going to take a bit to beat it.

After all that writing, I feel obliged to reply..... but to be perfectly honest, I'm speechless, and can only stammer out "Frigging awesome. I wish I'd had a dad like you"

Can’t get much better than that, what a great result with a nice Rainbow trout and two tahr. You struck the weather right which made for a more enjoyable journey. Well done to you all and hopefully plenty more family trips to come.

I'm blown away by that comment. That is why "Tharmagedon" happened . You have nothing to feel guilty about. I think you deserve accolades for your abilities to share these experiences with you family.

Awesome trip and great write up. Makes me appreciate living down south that much more when you see a North Islanders perspective of what I know I can take abit for granted.

Also, I wouldn't worry about shooting two young bulls. I hunt the same valley fairly extensively and there's no shortage. Plus in my opinion, your first couple of most species should be just about enjoying the day and the challenge. No need to put emphasis on age or length until you've got a couple under your belt.

    Great trip again
