Hey guys,
I've been pretty quiet on here of late, been pretty busy with work and family stuff, but I've managed to get out for a little bit of that all-important 'sanity' time we all need. A bit of small game pest control, and a long weekend deer hunting trip a couple of weeks back.
Here's a quick bit of footage of one of the shots I made on that trip.
Rifle is a factory Rem Model 7 in 7mm SAUM, factory 22" barrel (rifle has only had some weight reduction mods, barrel and bolt fluting/skeletonising and a 511-gram Stug CF stock. The scope is just a Sightron S-Tac 4-20x50 which seems to work well enough. My own handloads using 162gr Amax in front of RE26 running at 3,050 fps.
It's pretty rewarding when all the setup/practice/validation all comes off to make a shot like this, the wind is by far the trickiest bit, it always seems to be stronger than you think, and it does funny things as it blows over hilly terrain. Ive done a bit of practice rock shooting from this very same lookout over the years and have got to know what the wind does there.
