"O what a day, what a lovely day"
Have always wanted a thermal. Such cool things to play with.
Has anyone here had a play with the sight forward mounted ones, FXQ50?
Can you please expand on why they aren't good for shooting? Is it mainly to do with their lack of magnification? What if mounted on good glass like S&B?
I see the max recommended magnification to run is 5x for the FXQ50.
The versatility seems great.
How much under $6k? Could be tempting.
They do not hold Zero
Think about the logistics of how they work
Everyone I know who has used one says they are not good Re accuracy - good as handheld - but if you want hand held you better off paying less for a XP38 or the likes - otherwise go the full monty with the above Trail XP's
I was goint to get one until luckily I got talked seriously out of it by a American Forum chap
Fudge the DP
I will second those all those comments on the FXQ50 after a week field testing.
If looking at a thermal hand held, the "new" Pulsar Quantum Lite XQV30 Thermal Imager would be the best option - value for money. This product has been repositioned as an entry level unit with no video and other digital features.

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
