Thread: Washed out Parrie Season

Never thought a duck hunting day would get washed out but..............YES

Started off yesterday with giving my parrie siloughettes a touch up with redwood oil based paint.



They needed a second coat but it was time to set them up tonight along with my swan silos that need more paint to.



Anyway set up and ready for the parries to come as the pastures were dry and crops not ripe.



The river was the only option for day one.So with rods at hand and guns slung we were waiting for the dusk.

I landed a nice looking rainbow jack when the heavens opened.



We could see debri floating down the river so yelled out to Mrs Dundee and possum trapper to get there asses back on this side of the river.




Once they were back the water was rising rather quickly and the silo spread was starting to get ingulfed by water.



Another clap of thunder and within minutes we would of been in the shit,could see the river turning to chocolate.



That image was taken just before the chocolate water hit we were lucky and just a great reminder to respect mother nature.

And that view downstream is where PT and Mrs D crossed minutes before.

Get the silos back?

Yeah Toby, were just pulling them out when the first few started lifting and floating.

There was a bikini clad las and a fella down there when I set them up,they soon scarpered.

That Redwood colour looks great. who makes it Wattyl, resene etc.

Well done in spotting the danger and keeping your family safe Dundee.

Not our land but yes lucky to have great acess

River is a little high so will set up at 2000hrs tonight and see how we go

On the way to river possum trapper and myself spotted some parries,we were on a quad each and a dog with each of us.



So we ride down the track to get closer and I dropped one pretty hard to stalk in a flat paddock.

But Mr Bolt the (hunterdor) retrieves.


Set up at the river again a lot higher than last night.


Lot of fun one bird no trout but good times with me dog and son.

Good on ya Dundee. Simple pleasures. I admire your philosophy.

Nice one Dundee hope your prep pays off.....it usually does.....was it 'Watties red' and not 'Wattyl red'....???

Loving the rod holder in the 4th pic mate Sly Stallone would be impressed!
