I spent another couple hours on the cruiser today got all the actuator push pull cables for the heater controls hooked up and mounted the heater controls and inclinometer. Plugged all electronics in for the heater and air con.
Then moved to the engine bay to remove the old cast manifold and fit the new headers, bit of a mission and managed to strip one of the manifold bolts when refitting it must have had some shit in there , will try chase it out with a tap next time i go back.

Lucky I didn't see that listing... been looking for a project like that (not that my 80 will ever be "finished")

Thats a nice looking truck @one_seven. Like the bumpers, but man that front left has a heap of lead on it...

Bumpers hand made by me, and 35s = lots of lead I suppose. Truck also had an injected LT1 chevy, which was fancy at the time (2006). Made cool noises and better economy than the 3F...

Any reason why you weren't keen on a 2JZ in it since you're going petrol. They're a lot newer than a 3F and very reliable.

It's already set up for the 3f, wasn't keen on paying jz tax but maybe 1 day....

If you get one from an altezza gita they're not badly priced. Seen them for 1200 bucks running off FB. obv more from a wrecker.

Simple and reliable is an 8 litre Keith Black with a Vertex magneto and an earth kill switch

3f won't be much more complicated

It's been nearly 2 months since my last visit to the truck, managed to sneak out today, didn't get a lot done spent most of my time fossicing through boxes of parts to find all the internal parts for my doors.
Window regulators, door lock, door handles, lock mechanism, check straps, window guides etc etc.
Got the passenger door all completed and back together ready to hang. No point hanging it till seat mounts and molded floor etc in the cab are completed.
, my drivers door still needs painting so hopefully getting onto that in the next couple months, have bonnet, guards roof and a bit at the back of the cab to spray so hoping to do that all at the same time.
I have also made the decision to remove the wellside, and put a flat deck on, as much as the wellside conversion has been done to a good finish, I much prefer the idea of a flat deck for what I intend on using this truck for. The idea of garking up he wellside has been on my mind since I bought it and a flat deck would be much better.
I have masked up up the side of the truck where I intend to chop the cab following the contour of the back of the cab(this is the vertical line), the horizontal line represents the height I want to have the flat deck sitting at which is in line with the top of the inside of the wheel arch. This should improve departure angle and less prone to getting dinged and scratched up when I'm out doing dumb shit in it.
Happy to build a deck but if anyone has a 1800wide flat deck sitting around I could be interested. Would need to be 1500L or longer.

Anyway here's a pic of the chop masked out. Might get back tomorrow and start pulling fuel lines and looms out of the wellside in preparation for surgery.

I have the luxury of time and dry storage....also a full engineering shop at my mates where it is currently stored. Double edged sword though as its 30-40 min drive from home so getting over there has to be planned for when we can both be there. Getting the auto sparky there takes even more coordination but it's doable just no rushing.
