Well set up wagon that one.But without fast axels and a turbo its going to be a long slow drive anywhere.I drove my first one from Germany to Norway and my second one half the length of Norway. My arse and ears still havn't forgiven me.
If I was going to set up a 4X4 for camping I would get a landcrusier troop carrier and make/graft a pop top onto it.Its still going to be cramped but at least you will have some head room.

The probs with roof tents - wind drag on fuel costs, sleeping high up can be disorientating as the truck wobbles in the wind, getting out for a midnight pee is dangerous (as soon as you're over 40yrs old this is a habit).
Converting the rear to sleep in is better.
I made one about 5 yrs ago.
Removable H frames for kayaks or rooftop (which I never bought).
Checkerplate all round. Sikaflex and SS blind riveted to galv chassis. Drop down rear legs. Jockeywheel and drop stand up front, 4x bike rack on A frame extended drawbar, water, diesel, gas and washing tank. LED lights outside and inside. Hard top on gas struts. Lockable. Commercial tires etc. Cost me over $5k to build - and I bought everything at work rates, using work equipment in free time.
Sold it as it wasn't getting used enough, taking up space and I needed to do up the quad.
If your going to do it. Be civilised would you

You'd need that long term accomodation for when you're doing all the rover repairs....
These guys are brilliant.

I wish I'd bought a set of their drawers for my prado, but the shipment was too much cost at the time.
I bought a set of MCC drawers instead.
or build your own.

I considered a RTT for our Landcruiser, but we head into some quite rough bush four wheel driving and camping, and ripping the canvas was a major concern for us. As well as the added height which is already an issue with our Wagon having quite a high roofline already. A RTT would end up being over 7ft of the ground by the time it was mounted to racks on the roof.
2nd option was a poptop caravan, lifted onto some decent sized tyres for a bit of ground clearance. or possibly a teardrop style camper trailer.
There is an outfit in Australia that does poptop roof conversions for Landrovers and I think, Landcruisers too.
