Ive bought my second 80s series now and got back into making it a bit of an off-road orientated truck. I do a lot of ks with the family and dog, camping and such so its real useful to have the wagon but hunting wise where do you carry your game without getting blood on the carpet.

I have a roof basket i use for possums rabbits and hares around the farms.

Toying with the idea or either a kinda metal tray so slide into the b not space while hunting that i could kinda wedge some game into.
a plate to cover the bonnet to strap game down (not sure on the legality to this though) ???
Or hang it over the rear wheel carrier again strapped down obviously....
or any other ideas you smart folk in similar situations have come across.

Id vote for the rear wheel carrier or keep a couple of tarps / extra large fish bin in the boot

You can get wheel carriers for the left side, would be able to hang your game on, would keep any smell out side.

What tail door do you have? The standard vx glass top half lifts up and lower drops down like a ute? (Mine an oddball gx model with 2 swing doors) thinking another option would be add a ladder to get to the roof basket and incoporate a hanging spot into it, would need to be hinged if top half of back door folds up

MCC do a tray slider system. I have a set. They’re $1400 retail though, but the design principles are basic if you’re mechanically inclined.

Noting your purpose, attention to recovery points etc is vital.

Don’t know about where you go, but I’ve ripped off my roof bars so many times it’s not fun any more. Top loading on roof either adds weight (horrible on corners), or wind drag. Back of the cab best

A custom made rear space liner in canvas or suchlike would be an affordable option too

I used to use a shaped rubber mat from supercheap I think it was and a small tarp and just threw them in the back.
Used to get three big reds in there ok but a ute is better.��

Cut down the inner from a IBC, fits nicely between the wheel arches -can be as deep as you want, but normally 300mm is about right.

Ive seen a couple of "buckets" made from IBC's, cut it down vertically and use the side rather than the top or bottom. And then when you get home just throw it on the lawn and wash it out with the hose. I had a "bucket' made from PVC, extends right up the back of the seat and has velcro tabs that fit around the rear head rests to hold it up. About 200mm up the side and rear, the sides held up by a small hook front and back. And the rear sits flat until you shoot something, then folds up behind the deer to keep all the blood in. The corners are pocketed, so theres no stitching on the bottom half of it and it doesnt leak.

the IBC idea is a good un, got a few mates with some lying around i could probably pry off them for a beer.

Ill have a look around and see if i can find a cheap deep fill style liner and post it up on here, i imagine there's a few people with wagons, or even normal cars that could get bit of use outta a removable inner.

Go to an upholsterer or similar and grab a piece of PVC larger than your bootspace. Fold and stitch the corners to make a tub, remove and hose out once blooded. OR fill with ice and keep the beersies cool.
