A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
An ex-employer of mine had a RL as a fire tanker for its forestry operations. It had some kind of cable actuated diff locks on it front and rear. With a full tank of water it went anywhere. I recall watching it plow through a hillside of 5-6 year old pines like they were weeds once.
Let me guess northdude, you've smelt his truck too?
Gutted.
I remember having to drive a TK Bedford at my first farming job, no power steering and 1st gear was blown, it was probably older than my father. I thought all my Christmas' had come at once when it got replaced with an old T-liner. I don't think I ever turned the jake brakes off the entire time I was driving it, loved that sound.
Gotta be careful doing that, next you'll be licking em and you tongue will stick! Bloody embarrassing when she lands on ya head!
Boom, cough,cough,cough
Didn't lick it but I hurt myself badly trying to do what they do on it
the stainless one my nuts didnt like it thought i might break the acrylic one
I remember that the Drainage Board bought new Bedford's in the 80's as they were the only commercial vehicles you could buy that still ran on petrol. They wanted petrol engines to run on biogas from the sewerage plant. Awful things do drive compared to the Japanese diesels of the era.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
I learnt to drive in a J1 which my dad bought brand new at the time on the farm in northland. Started when I was around 5yr old. The old man would put it in first gear and jump out and I would stand on the seat and steer it around the hay paddock while he picked up the bales. When I was big enough to push the clutch in and change gear myself, he taught me how to do hand brake slides but threatened me with my life if I ever did one with him on the back loading hay . Sat my license in the old girl. Them were the days!
