    BT 50 any good ?

Howdy folks, my brother is wanting to buy a ute ( although he has nothing to tow with it). He has found a 4wd 2009 bt50 3L turbo with 110,000km. Listed for 27K. So I was wondering if there is any known problems with the bt50. Apparently the cam belt was done at 100K. It's listed on arsebook in Nelson.
    Thoughts, opions etc....

A mechanic mate suggested they can have issues with EGR unit and crack heads, but not usually at that mileage. The latest BT50s are an Isuzu with different shell.

My old (2017) d max manual with 54000 kms is on the yard at Rosetown Motor Group, but it may be too pricey. That is a good truck with full service records etc, canopy, triple roof racks, towbar etc. I traded it on a new auto MU-X.

For a couple of grand more I got a 3.2 ranger done 128,000 4x4 I looked at them at the time and I know they have issues with cracked heads.
My partner work has one and had a heap of trouble but we'll over 200,000 km

I had one for work about four vehicles ago, I got it new but it was undriveable by 100,000k the clutch slipped and all the injector came loose. I smelt diesel on my way over the Rimutakas and had to tighten the clamps on the injectors to get back home.
They never fixed it as it’s lease was running out so I parked it up and drove a spare Ute until my new Toyota arrived.
It was nothing that couldn’t be sorted but I was surprised it happened on a four year old vehicle.
It’s was still better than the new Toyota.
I didn’t like the gearbox as 1st and reverse were too high ratio especially when backing a trailer you had to slip the clutch to stop it going to fast or stalling.

    Run..............................but whats the rego??
2009 4x4 Auto Brought at 97k traded it at 114k
2 egr coolers, 2 injectors, 1 cpu, 1 boost sensor and a whole heap of drama. Mostly to be fair by the original repair attempts by no Stealership.
BUT in the day I drove it home from having 2 injectors replaced (seals were leaky but appently injectors needed replacing too) the EGR cooler failed again on drive home.
    Never again.
Was driven from Mazda Dealer after repair directly to Holden dealer and traded.

Thought the BT-50's would have chain instead of cambelt? Might be the later ones.
