    Sweet
I've got an 18V Makita weedeater that I was thinking of doing the same thing with. I want to mount it on the front of a 12 foot tinny so I can run a net off the back. A mate is trying to convince me to make a well about 1/3 back from the front and run a motor in the hole.

I have to agree with berg243. I run a little 30 lb thrust Minkota on my fishing boat, they are under $100 dollars here in the states. I can fish most of the day on one charged battery. I just bought a rear mount and you can take the bolts out and spin the lower unit(motor) and change the direction so it works on the front. My boat is a 12 ft Jon boat that I fish, archery fish and duck hunt big water out of. I also in the past shortened the shaft on one, cut off the end of the shaft and re-drill mounting holes, cut out a section of wire and re-connect with crimp connection and coat with liquid insulation and tape.

Between the battery 12v deep cycle and the motor itself it was much heavier than the little weed-wacker and I had to take the battery and motor off every time I had to load it.

It is a post hole borer with a leg on it. Great idea. I used one at Christmas, my uncle had one on a dinghy. Gutless, but it seemed solid.

My post hole borer goes well.

@gimp, any feedback on the outboard?
I'd be keen on some feedback as I am looking at something like this to mount on a kayak. Where did you buy from?

I got it from some outfit on trademe. It goes really well but it's bloody loud. Moves me and my 2.3m Zodiac around flat water at about 8k's an hour and drinks less than 1L of 2 stroke per hour.
