My landcruiser 4.2 non turbo 1995 gets 450km from bout 75-80l full time 4wd and decent mud tires on it. Used to get 500km off a tank but don't like pushing it when I live 25mins from the nearest pump

I had an 80series with the 1HDT. It was intercooled by the previos owner and running higher boost and had been rebuilt previously....it cracked 4 pistons due to overfueling while I had it as on a long pull the glycol to air intercooler system would heat up then not cool as well.....cost 11.5k to rebuild....no intercooler and only modest boost increase. Had like half the power then but was almost standard apart from boost and 33" tires.
You dont get to push 3-5 tonne around fast for free.

308Win One chambering to rule them all.
if you can find one the VY series 2, v6, is the better motor than VZ , the old pushrod buick motor, just watch for leaking tappet cover gaskets no big deal, my vy would get 800 kms a tank locked in cruise control at 110, that's driving from Perth to gold coast , a comfortable ride as well , even after 12 hrs plus behind the wheel .
Ouch. I only paid about $1750 for my Safari motor with 120,000km on it and delivered from Auckland. Worst bit was that it still needed another 80,000km to finish running it in.
Get a cruiser or safari and do a double cab conversion? I'm impressed with the ride and leg room with the old Isuzu Bighorn but not a ute and probably a bit old.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
Got bored reading.
